An unforgettable year at Cranfield: My Chevening journey
17/09/2025

When I look back on my time at Cranfield, it feels like a year lived in fast-forward, intense, challenging, but above all transformative.
Arriving in the UK as a Chevening Scholar, I carried not only my own ambitions but also the hopes of giving back to my community in Turkmenistan. Cranfield’s unique environment turned that ambition into something tangible.
Your MSc highlights
The Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc was as demanding as I expected, yet also far more rewarding. From day one, I was immersed in real-world projects where theory and practice collide. I will never forget the hours spent with my cohort designing network models, calculating CO₂ emissions, or debating on humanitarian logistics module.
What struck me most was the diversity of perspectives: working alongside classmates from across the globe taught me as much as the lectures themselves.
Beyond the classroom, Cranfield gave me opportunities to grow in ways I hadn’t anticipated. One of my proudest moments was being part of the Cranfield Women in Business Society, where I had the chance to help organise events and I even received an award for leadership. These experiences reminded me that personal growth doesn’t stop at academic achievement, it also comes from the friendships you build, the communities you join, and the risks you take outside your comfort zone.

There were memorable lighter moments too: late-night library sessions fuelled by coffee and determination, countryside walks that cleared my head, and the many shared meals with friends that kept us grounded through the busiest months.
Advice to future students
If I were to give advice to incoming students, it would be this: embrace the intensity, but don’t forget to breathe. Cranfield is designed to push you, but it also provides a supportive environment if you reach out and ask for help. Take advantage of the smaller class sizes, get to know your professors, and never underestimate the value of your peers. The year will fly by faster than you think.
As for me, working on my thesis, conducted in collaboration with industry was the culmination of this journey. It sharpened my research skills, gave me exposure to real-world challenges, and confirmed my passion for applying digital technologies to logistics.

What’s next?
Looking ahead, I plan to return to Central Asia in 2026 to build a career at the intersection of logistics, technology, and sustainable transformation.
Cranfield has been more than just a place of study. It has been a launchpad, a space where I not only expanded my academic and professional horizons but also discovered new depths of resilience and purpose. I leave with gratitude, lifelong friendships, and the conviction that this is just the beginning of the journey.
