On our last open day we asked our followers to ask us anything. We’ve taken some of those questions and put them all in one place. Whether you’re coming to study at Cranfield soon or have hopes of attending in the future, we hope that you find this blog useful.
Where can I see pictures of accommodation?
We understand that accommodation is one of the most important factors of moving to university, so we’ve tried to make it as easy as possible when it comes to choosing your residency.
You can take a virtual accommodation tour around our halls of residence by clicking here. You can also find information on how to apply for accommodation and read through further FAQs.

Do you accommodate couples at Cranfield?
We try to accommodate to everyone here at Cranfield! Fedden House is a block of 75 newly refurbished studio apartments ideal for couples without accompanying children, situated in a peaceful location.
Fedden House is often very popular, so unfortunately we are not able to guarantee the availability of this type of accommodation, or accept responsibility for housing those who wish to bring their partner.
Cranfield is a safe and family-friendly environment and you are most welcome to bring your family with you!
We aim to provide comprehensive information and advice to help you to plan ahead, especially if you are travelling to the UK from another country, to ensure that you make the most of your time with us.
If you’re lucky enough to own an aeroplane, the nearest airport is of course Cranfield Airport, (we are the only university that owns its own working airport in Europe after all).
Despite this, the nearest airport to Cranfield is London Luton Airport which is 30 minutes away, situated just off Junction 10 of the M1. From here you can fly to a number of European destinations. You can also catch a train direct from Luton Airport Parkway station to Bedford!
In your first few days of arriving at Cranfield you will be invited to register as a student. Registration enables you to use the libraries and computing facilities and receive your University student ID card (yay!).
During Welcome Week there will be many opportunities to meet other students and take part in a variety of different activities across campus, including bus tours to the local areas and team building games.
Is there a bank and shops on the Cranfield campus?
You can find a Santander bank and cash machine on campus which is open for all students to use.
There a shop in the Cranfield Students Association (CSA) which sells Cranfield merchandise, stationary, snacks and drinks. There is also a Budgens (convenience store) with a post office on campus where you can buy a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and poultry and frozen foods.
