How to unlock free gold open access: Webinar on publisher deals – 15 March
06/03/2023

Are you aware that Cranfield University has signed a number of publisher deals to allow Cranfield corresponding authors to publish immediate (gold) open access at no additional cost? These include Elsevier, Wiley, Springer, Sage and Taylor & Francis. New publishers are being added, including just recently ACM (Association for Computing Machinery). The deals do vary, i.e., not all include fully open access journals. However, the deals are open to all Cranfield corresponding authors and are not dependent on whether you have funding.
If you are the corresponding author, you should be offered the gold open access option automatically provided you are using your Cranfield email address and Cranfield affiliation. You will need to accept the option and choose a licence (we recommend CC-BY, which is a requirement for many funders, including UKRI). However, we know that the process doesn’t always run this smoothly; it may not initially appear to be at no cost to you. It is therefore important to be aware of what deals we have, and the process for using them.
