Shut up and Write!
29/01/2021

Writing can be a solitary experience and the overwhelming force of procrastination too often prevents it from happening at all.
If this sounds familiar to you, then we may have the solution! The CDS Doc Com and the Early Career Researchers Network are offering Shut up and Write sessions, twice a week through MS Teams, to all staff and students at Cranfield University. The aim of the sessions is to make writing a fun and social experience, something many of us are missing in this current climate.
Running every Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning throughout February, each session will run for approximately 95 minutes, comprising three 25-minute focused quiet writing segments. You will not be asked to share your writing but at the start of each session we will ask for your aims, whether that be a word count, a chapter or an entire paper. At the end, you will have an opportunity to share what you have achieved, if you so wish.
For those tied up during the day with work, with home-schooling, etc., we are offering an evening session on Monday 8 February, 7.30-9.05pm. If it proves there is a demand for an out-of-hours session, we will be offering more.
The dates and times of the February sessions will be:
- Tuesday 2, 9, 16 and 23 February – 3.00-4.35pm
- Thursday 4, 11, 18 and 25 February – 9.30-11.05am
- Monday 8 February – 7.30-9.05pm
So before your calendar is filled with meetings and other events, enrol yourself on the ‘Shut up and Write’ MS Teams page and come and join us when you can!
