Our Management Information and Resource Centre (MIRC) will be renamed the School of Management Library on Monday 27 February. Library Services are making this change with the School to celebrate the recent relaunch of the space.
During the pandemic MIRC was forced to close for 16 months and the staff kept their services going under difficult conditions, including the transfer of all their books to the Kings Norton Library.
We were delighted to restore the print collection (and the shelving!) at the end of last year. We have also introduced a self-service machine so you can borrow, renew and return books whenever it suits you. The book lockers, which you can use to collect print items you have reserved online, have been so successful that we have ordered an extra column to meet demand. There are new information screens and we have been able to return the PCs and seating to full capacity to enhance the study space. Further refurbishments are in the pipeline.
We will soon be offering a new range of drop-in sessions so you can chat to a Business Librarian or seek study support from our Academic English team. You can still speak to the same team online via chat, email or Teams, or make an appointment to meet in person if you prefer; this is an additional service to ensure we continue to help you when you need us.
We will be inviting School of Management staff and students to celebrate the regeneration of the space with us shortly. You will be able to chat with the staff and find out more about all the many ways they can support and work with you.
Please bear with us as we update the name on various pieces of literature, our website and building signage. Although the majority will change at the end of February, you will still see references to MIRC for a while as we replace or revise existing print and online material.
