Introducing the Kings Norton Library
07/09/2022

Welcome to all our new students! We are looking forward to meeting you soon.
You will find the Kings Norton Library in the centre of the Cranfield campus, and it is open 24/7 to all staff and students. It is a great place to study and you can also use our self-service kiosks to borrow and return print items from our collection.
Getting started
You have a lot of information to absorb during your first weeks at Cranfield! You can find an overview of our services for new students which includes a short video and an introductory leaflet (PDF) depending on whether you prefer to watch or read!
Your information specialist
You will meet your Information Specialist during your induction period. They are your main point of contact when you need help using the resources in the library. They know your Course Director and the modules you are undertaking, and they understand your area of study.
Online resources
The majority of our resources (databases, eJournals and eBooks) are available on our website, so you can access them 24/7 from anywhere using your University network username and password.
Library Search is a great place to start, because it allows you to search across our printed collection and a broad selection of our online databases. We recommend you search specific databases individually when you need to find more targeted content relevant to your particular subject.
Study space
The Kings Norton Library offers a variety of group, individual and silent study areas – please look out for the signs to make sure you are sitting in the right area! There is also a large PC Hub on the ground floor, which is very popular.
Talk to us!
There is a Welcome Desk on the first floor of the Library which is staffed 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday, and 9am-4.30pm on Fridays. Please ask us if you need help using the building; for example, help finding a book on the shelf, using the self-service machines, printing or photocopying, booking a seminar room for group work etc.
You are also welcome to contact us online if you need help and aren’t in the building. We offer online chat on our website every weekday (daytime only) and you can also email us – library@cranfield.ac.uk. The account is staffed until 8pm Monday-Thursday and if you contact us overnight or at the weekend we will get back to you as quickly as possible when we return to work. If we can’t answer your question quickly by email we will arrange a time for a telephone or video call with you, whichever you prefer.
You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to be the first to find out about new resources and services we’ll be offering throughout the year.
