Need some help settling in? Wobble Week 2025

Whether you’re finding it hard to settle into your course or accommodation, you arrived late and are struggling to catch up, you feel overwhelmed or you can’t remember everything you’ve already been told, we can help!
Feeling uncertain is really natural and “Wobble Week”, from Monday 3 until Friday 7 November is here to provide the support you need to get back on track.
Events on Tuesday 4 November
There will be support on hand at both campus libraries. There’s no need to make an appointment, just drop by. Confidential spaces will be available if you need them.
Kings Norton Library, 11.30am-1.30pm – A range of University services will be in The Hub on Floor 1 to answer your questions, including student funding, accommodation, IT, Library staff, academic language support, Student Wellbeing and Disability Support and the CSA.
Barrington Library, 11am-1pm – Library staff and Emma from Student Wellbeing and Disability Support will be available to chat and provide advice.
Webinars and in person sessions
Library staff will be running lunchtime webinars 12.30-1.30pm each day this week for any students who missed their induction session or would just like to hear it all again! Please book your place on DATES. All sessions will be recorded and a copy sent to everyone who registers, so please sign up if you’re interested but unable to attend the live session.
- Monday 3 November – Getting to know Mendeley (a reference manager)
- Tuesday 4 November – Getting started with Zotero (a reference manager)
- Wednesday 5 November – Late starter’s library induction
- Thursday 6 November – Finding academic articles for your assignments
- Friday 7 November – Getting started with business journal searching
Library staff will also hold sessions all month to help you communicate successfully, from working in groups, to practising group discussion skills and developing and delivering oral presentations. Find out more and book your place.
