Changes to Ebook Central from Monday 15 September
05/09/2025

The way you download whole eBooks from Ebook Central will be changing in some instances from Monday 15 September. The new Ebook Central app offers an improved user experience and a more secure and accessible way for downloading and reading eBooks from its collection.
Once you have selected the option to download an eBook and chosen how long you would like to borrow it, clicking on ‘Continue’ may prompt you to download the eBook Central app onto your device, if you haven’t done so already:

Copy the seven digit code displayed as you will need this later. Clicking on ‘Download the App’ will give you the option to select which version you’d like to download, depending upon your device (Windows, MacOS, iOS or Android).
Once it has downloaded use the seven digit code you copied previously to register your device. Please note that you will need to download the app on each device you wish to download Ebook Central eBooks onto. Up to six devices are permitted per user. At present it is not possible to synch ‘last page read’ across devices.
Please note: For now, they way you access book chapters and DRM-free eBooks will be unchanged. They will continue to be downloaded in Adobe Digital Editions.
If you experience any problems downloading the eBook Central app please use the ‘Read Online’ option instead and report the issue (including title, platform and error screenshots) to us.
