My Experience as a C4D Scholar
22/03/2023

How the C4D Scholarship made it possible for me to study MDes Design Thinking at one of the most prestigious universities in the world; Cranfield!
I first found my interest in Design while in high school, and ever since I have been devoting my education and work to this field. I have always been a creative person, and I am fascinated by the many opportunities for creatives and how the use of design can improve people’s lives and our economy. Also, participating in the Dutch Design Week in 2021 through the Ghana Design Network and Butterfly Works in the Netherlands increased my passion for the field.
Gaining admission into Cranfield to study MDes Design Thinking was a dream come true as the programme is taught by a wide range of subject specialists from Cranfield with support from industry professionals who draw on their expertise and industry experience to provide stimulating and relevant input to the learning experience. However, my dream of studying for an MDes Design Thinking at Cranfield University was hampered by financial constraints given the time when I had lost my father and the economic hardship in my country was unfavourable. Fortunately, the C4D scholarship made it possible for me to pursue my studies and fulfil my aspirations.
The C4D scholarship is a prestigious award that is offered by the Centre for Design Thinking at Cranfield University to outstanding individuals who have shown exceptional academic promise in the field of Design Thinking. The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and you can only apply once you have been offered a place in the MDes Design Thinking.
I am one of the lucky recipients of the C4D scholarship. I recalled the moment when I received the news from the Programme Director Paul Lighterness, I felt like my dreams had finally come true. I was just excited at the prospect of studying at Cranfield, one of the most reputable universities in the world, and being able to learn from some of the best minds in the field of Design Thinking.

Since starting my MDes Design Thinking programme at Cranfield, I have had an enriching and fulfilling experience. The programme has granted me the opportunity to work on real-life challenging projects and collaborate with fellow students from diverse backgrounds. I have also had access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources, which have helped hone my skills and develop my Design Thinking abilities. Interestingly, Design Thinking is vital across fields of study and industries. It is a powerful process that when mastered will empower our professional learners to unlock their creative potential to generate novel ideas and translate these ideas into tangible and impactful outputs for innovation.
I am grateful to Cranfield University and the C4D scholarship for making my dreams a reality. I believe that the knowledge and skills acquired during my studies will enable me to make a positive impact in the field and contribute to society in a meaningful way.
In conclusion, my experience at Cranfield University is a testament to the transformative power of education and the importance of financial support in enabling talented individuals to reach their full potential. The C4D scholarship has made it possible for me to pursue my passion and become a leader in the field of Design Thinking.
Choose Cranfield University. Choose Design Thinking.
