Collect your reservations 24/7 from the SOM Library locker
04/12/2023
SOM Library customers, did you know that you can reserve items on Library Search and then pick them up at any time of the day or night from our SOM Library locker using your University ID card?
All you need to do is select the SOM Library as your Pickup Library when you are placing a reservation:
We will then send you an email to let you know when your item is ready for collection. Once you have received it, just head to the remote locker, just outside the SOM Library. Simply follow the instructions on screen, scan your ID card, and the screen will list your available book(s). Select which you want to collect or tap “Select All”, then tap “Open Locker”. The door will ping open with the book(s) already issued. You can print a receipt if you would like one, or get it emailed to you. And while you’re there, you can also review your account and renew your loans.
When you have finished with your loan, simply take it back to the locker, tap the option to “Return” and follow the instructions on screen again. The returns bin will light up to show you where to post the book, and will lock again when you tap “Finished”. You may also return your books using the self-issue terminals in the SOM Library and Kings Norton Library.
Please do let us know if you have any problems using the locker and we will be happy to help you!
