Introducing Kings Norton Library
29/09/2025

Welcome to all our new students! We are looking forward to meeting you soon.
You will find Kings Norton Library in the centre of the Cranfield campus, and it is open 24/7 to all staff and students. It is a great place to study and you can also use our self-service machines to borrow and return print items from our collection.
Getting started
You have a lot of information to absorb during your first weeks at Cranfield! You can find an overview of our services for new students which includes a short video and an introductory leaflet (PDF) depending on whether you prefer to watch or read!
Our Librarians and study skills team
We have a team of Librarians to support you, and they work closely with your academic team. You will meet them during your induction period and they are your main point of contact when you need help using the resources. They can help you with searching our databases, evaluating what you find, referencing and citing sources, using generative AI and much more.
We also offer a range of academic language and study skills support to help you with areas such as group work, presentation skills, writing your thesis, and critical thinking.
You can contact your Librarian directly for one-to-one support, drop-in when you need us or sign up one of our popular webinars.
Online resources
The majority of our resources (databases, eJournals and eBooks) are available on our website, so you can access them 24/7 from anywhere using your University network username and password.
Library Search is a great place to start, because it allows you to search across our printed collection and a broad selection of our online databases. We recommend you search specific databases individually when you need to find more targeted content relevant to your particular subject.
Bloomberg Suite
We have a Bloomberg and Training Suite on the ground floor. Bloomberg provides real-time and historical pricing information from the world’s stock exchanges, as well as detailed information, news and financial data on global companies. The Suite is primarily for the use of business and management staff and students, who will need to use their University ID cards to open the door. You will also need to book a terminal in advance.
Study space
Kings Norton Library offers a variety of group, individual and silent study areas – please look out for the signs to make sure you are sitting in the right area! There is also a large PC Hub on the ground floor, which is very popular.
Talk to us!
There is a Welcome Desk on Floor 1 which is staffed 9am-6pm Monday-Friday. Please ask us if you need help.
You are also welcome to contact us online if you need help and either you, or we, aren’t in the building. We offer 24/7 online chat on our website, which is staffed by academic librarians from across the globe when we aren’t working. Or you can email us – library@cranfield.ac.uk. The account is staffed during our working hours so if you contact us overnight or at the weekend we will get back to you as quickly as possible on our return. If we can’t answer your question quickly by email we will arrange a time for a telephone or video call with you, whichever you prefer.
