Dimensions: A tool to rival Google Scholar?
06/04/2018
A new research information platform was announced recently, called Dimensions and produced by Digital Science (the company behind figshare, altmetric, etc.).
You can try out the free version of Dimensions at https://app.dimensions.ai. It contains 89 million publication records, 870 million citations, 50 million Altmetric mentions and more. As well as providing a powerful publication search with extensive faceting to filter your results, it includes other information such as grants and patents. A beta function is research profiles, with around 20 million researcher pages showing individuals’ activity.
It’s been suggested as an alternative starting point to Google Scholar – try out Dimensions and let us know what you think!
