From Nigeria to Cranfield: My journey into Future Food Sustainability
09/04/2026

My name is Jolaosho Eniola, and I’m studying the MSc in Future Food Sustainability. I’m originally from Nigeria, and I’m passionate about food systems, food sustainability, food supply chain and creating solutions that improve both people’s lives and the environment.
Why Cranfield?
I chose Cranfield University because of its strong reputation for industry focused teaching and real world impact. My background is in food science and technology. Cranfield’s hands‑on approach, strong industry links, and the opportunity to learn from experts in the field were major reasons for my choice.
My first impressions have been positive. The campus is peaceful and conducive to learning, the lecturers are deeply knowledgeable, and the diversity among students makes the environment rich and inspiring. England itself has been welcoming, and adapting to the culture has been exciting.
Highlights so far
My highlight so far has been the sense of community both within my course and across the University. The teaching style is practical and interactive, and I’ve appreciated the opportunities to engage with people from different countries.
My first few weeks were a blend of excitement, adjustment, and growth. I met new friends, explored the campus, settled into a new country, and began to understand the rhythm of postgraduate life. It has been a period of learning, reflection, and building confidence. I’ve also started getting involved in activities on campus and connecting with different groups. The social events and student gatherings have helped me settle in and feel at home. One thing that surprised me is how approachable people are here.

What are you looking forward to?
During my MSc, I’m most looking forward to developing practical skills, working on real industry based projects, and growing my expertise in food supply chain systems. I’m excited to see how I can put in what I have learnt into real life practice.
My career goal is to become sustainability professional work within the food industry focusing on supply chains and creating innovative solutions that support food security and sustainable development. I want to contribute to transforming food systems in a way that benefits both people and the planet.
