Getting ready to hand in your thesis?
11/08/2025

You are nearly there! Many of our students are starting to think about finishing their theses. If you are one of them, then you might find this post useful as you write up your masterpiece and get ready to hand it in.
Formatting and templating for your thesis
Hopefully, you already know this, but our IT staff provide a Word template to help you format your thesis. Using a template will help you to achieve a consistently formatted document and will allow you to automatically generate a table of contents and lists of figures and tables, with appropriately numbered pages throughout. You can access the thesis and work-based project templates on the Digital Skills Hub. Training and support for these templates is provided by the IT Training Team. Please visit DATES to view upcoming events and request a place. There is a video playlist based on their training session, which is available to view on the CITBytes YouTube channel. They also provide a video playlist demonstrating how to resolve common issues.
Submitting your thesis
When do I need to hand in my thesis? Where? What do I need to submit? How do I submit a copy to TurnItIn? What happens next? When will I get my results? For answers to these questions and many, many more, visit the thesis guidance on MyCranfield.
And finally…
Try to stay calm! We know it’s easy advice to give, but try to make time to relax, sleep and exercise. Eat well, and be kind to yourself. If you find you are getting too stressed, please get in touch with the Student Wellbeing and Disability Support team who are here to talk through your worries.
Good luck!!
