How do I reference… my personalised profiles in the APA7 style?
12/10/2023

As part of your studies you may be asked to complete a personalised profile of some kind – using instruments such as Belbin for team roles, MBTI for personality characteristics, or FIRO on motivation and needs.
To discuss the findings of that profile in your work, for example in a reflective report, you will need to know how to reference it.
It is quite straightforward, based on the referencing guidance for a report.
You need to include:
- Author (likely to be an organisation).
- Date (YYYY).
- Title of report for <Your Name>
- [Unpublished].
- Publisher.
It may look like this:
Belbin. (2023). Belbin personality report for Harry Potter [Unpublished]. Belbin.
or
FIRO-B Report. (2023). FIROB Extract for Harry Potter taken from Leadership Report Using the FIRO-B and MBTI Instruments [Unpublished]. The Myers-Briggs Company.
Your in-text citation will be (Author, YYYY) as usual, e.g. (Belbin, 2023) or FIRO-B Report (2023).
If you have any questions, please do get in touch by email or pop in and see us.
Please note: Cranfield supports two different referencing styles – APA7 (Author-date) and Numbered (NLM). Please make sure you use the style preferred by your supervisor or lecturer. The advice above relates only to the APA7 style. If you have any questions about referencing, please contact the Library.
