Research support webinar: What is an ORCID and what are the benefits of having one?
13/04/2022
As many researchers have discovered, their name is often not enough to identify them as the author or contributor of their work. There are many reasons for this, such as:
- author names are often displayed differently, according to the format of each publication;
- many researchers share the same name and initial;
- some change name, for example when they marry;
- and many will work for more than one institution during their career.
ORCID overcomes the attribution issue by providing each researcher with a unique identifier to use when engaging in scholarly activities. However, this is just one of ORCID’s many benefits.
To learn more about ORCID, its benefits, how to register for an ORCID and how to link it to your CRIS profile, come and join us on Thursday 28 April, 1-2pm through MS Teams.
