3,000th paper written by our School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing academics added to CERES!

Wow, what a milestone! We are very proud to announce that our Open Access Team has just added the 3,000th paper produced by our School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing (SATM) academics to CERES, our institutional repository.
What makes it even more special is that the paper was published gold open access in the International Journal of Social Robotics with no article processing charge (APC) as the authors took advantage of our read and publish deal with Springer.

The paper was produced by a team from the Centre of Advanced Structures within the Aerospace theme, and reports on a study which investigated the impact of a robot’s speed and proximity settings on a person’s workload and trust during a human-robot collaboration task. Corresponding author PhD student Matt Story said:
“I am happy that my paper is available to all those who wish to read it, increasing awareness of human factors in industrial robotics and the great work that SATM is doing in this field”.
As you probably know, we have been able to fund APC payments for papers acknowledging UKRI or UK-based industrial sponsor funding for several years. Nowadays, our growing list of read and publish deals mean that papers in qualifying journals that do not acknowledge this funding can now be made open access. This is a big win for authors as it means that your papers can be made open access to everyone, whoever they are and wherever they may be, rather than languishing behind a paywall that only the fortunate can breach.

Before submitting a paper to one of these publishers it’s best to check with your Research Support Librarian to ensure that the journal you wish to publish in is included in the deal.
