How do I reference a YouTube video… in the Cranfield Author-date style?
23/10/2015
Did you know that the Cranfield School of Management has its own YouTube channel? We were recently asked how to cite one of these videos in an assignment. Maybe you’ve found other YouTube videos that you would like to reference and were wondering how it’s done. Here we’ll explain how using the Cranfield Author-date style.
Take this YouTube video by Ruth Bender, how would you create the bibliographic reference?
This is what you will need to include in your reference:
- Name of person posting (as written)
- (Year video posted)
- Title of video (in italics)
- Available at: URL
- (Accessed: date)
Your bibliographic reference will look like this:
Cranfield School of Management (2013) 60 seconds with Dr Ruth Bender – Executive Pay [Video]. Available at: https://youtu.be/BvkeMhZ2w2o?list=PLNrsv0Lk0UG-O3-F5R-lt87v3X-hmD6mH (Accessed 8 October 2015).
The in-text citation will read: Cranfield School of Management (2013).
As always if you have any questions about referencing, pop into MIRC or contact us.
