Introducing Barrington Library
01/09/2025

Welcome to all our new students! Barrington Library supports all the students and staff at Cranfield Defence and Security on the Shrivenham site. We are looking forward to meeting you all soon, in person or online.
Getting started
You have a lot of information to absorb during your first weeks at Cranfield. The Library staff are happy to help you with any questions you might have. You will meet your Librarian during your induction – they understand your area of study and will show you how to effectively search, access, manage, cite and keep up to date with the literature you need for your work.
We are available in person and online every weekday from 9am-6pm to help you when you need us. If we can’t answer your questions quickly by telephone, email, or chat then we will arrange a video call with you. We also offer 24/7 chat on our website so you can talk to an academic librarian at any time, even when we aren’t working.
Resources
Use our website to access our world class selection of databases, eJournals and eBooks, and to find details of our print collection. Library Search is a great place to start because it allows you to search across our printed collection and a broad selection of our online databases. We recommend you search specific databases individually when you need to find more targeted content relevant to your particular subject.
You can access nearly all our online resources from anywhere using your University network username and password.
Using the Library building
You are welcome to use Barrington Library to study – there are both individual study spaces and bookable group study rooms. You can browse and borrow items from our print collection in person, or we are happy to post print items to you if you are studying part-time or online and live more than 10 miles away from the site.
