My Cranfield MSc: Aerospace Manufacturing
05/08/2021

My journey as a member of the 2021 Aerospace Manufacturing MSc cohort began mid-March after being accepted onto the course.
Initially, I was made acquainted with the fellow members of the cohort, along with some of the senior lecturers that would oversee our journeys in the coming eleven months. Meetings concluded, my spirits were high as I knew that I was in a world-class establishment, supporting the impression I already had of Cranfield.
As I got to know my classmates personally over the coming month, I was elated to later discover myself in an engaging cohort. Getting on with the cohort so well meant that I was happy to represent them as the class representative, a role that I have to this date enjoyed as all those I’m involved with while carrying out this role are a joy to work with.

In the following weeks, I got exposure to many interesting and well put together modules, developing my knowledge of the manufacturing industry. The skills I was learning were not just confined to the module lectures, but I was also beginning to understand how this education was gearing me up to make the leap between graduate-level skills and working in industry.
One module on the course was run closely with Airbus which proved to be extremely interesting as we had material taught to us by senior members of Airbus in Wales. One thing in particular that I really appreciate about the team at Cranfield is that much like the Airbus employees they are always willing to talk, helping me with queries I had about the course and specific subjects. Often, I would find myself having a conversation with the lectures in breaks, discussing their professional careers, which was always a pleasure and certain as the staff will always make time for you. I would encourage anyone to chat and talk to the lecturers as it really gave my experience at Cranfield a more relaxed and friendly feel.
When looking back on the skills I’ve gained from Cranfield, I look forward to my future career with high hopes. Not only do I know that Cranfield has stretched me to produce some of my best work, but I know that with all of the additional services they offer I will be able to present myself in the best possible way. The Cranfield University Career Service is unmatched by any other institution that I have ever been involved with and host a wide range of extracurricular societies.
I would thoroughly recommend Cranfield to anyone who is willing to put in the effort to achieve an experience and education that is unlike any other in the UK.
