‘Getting started with Bloomberg’ training – discover the power of Bloomberg terminals
05/03/2026

Perhaps you’ve heard people talking about Bloomberg or heard it mentioned in the news and are wondering what all the fuss is about? Why not come along and find out at our Getting started with Bloomberg training. Whether you’re studying finance, business, data science, or any research-intensive subject, Bloomberg can boost your research, sharpen your digital skills, and keep you up to date with important developments around the world.
The Bloomberg Terminal is a powerful software platform that lets you easily access real-time* financial and economic data, news, and analytics to support research and decision-making.
If you need high-quality information, fast, this is what you can get from Bloomberg:
- News section: Pulls together global reporting on politics, technology, climate change, international affairs, social issues, and cultural trends. If you need information on current events or credible sources, you can find expert reporting and real-time* updates in one place.
-
Real-time* global data: From economic indicators and industry trends to company profiles and ESG metrics, the Terminal gives you reliable, up-to-date information for assignments, projects and theses.
-
Powerful analytics tools: Visualise data, compare countries or sectors, explore supply chains, or examine historical trends with just a few keystrokes.
-
Career advantage: Many employers — from consulting and tech firms to government departments and NGOs — value Bloomberg literacy, even for roles outside traditional finance. We’ll show you how you can study for a Bloomberg Certificate, which you can then add to your CV or Linked-In profile.

-
User-friendly learning curve: Even beginners can get comfortable quickly thanks to built-in explanations and guided functions.
For finance students: go deeper
If you are studying finance or related fields, the Terminal gives you access to professional-grade tools used by analysts, traders, economists, and fund managers. It’s your chance to practice with the same systems used across global markets.
Join our “Getting started with Bloomberg” training session
To help you get started, we’re hosting monthly training sessions designed for beginners. You’ll learn how to navigate the Terminal, pull data for assignments, build simple analytics, and discover features that can be tailored to your discipline.
All students are welcome—no prior knowledge required.
Bloomberg terminals are only accessible on the Cranfield campus in the Bloomberg and Training Suite in the Kings Norton Library. So training is in-person, and each session is limited to a small number of attendees.
We will be delivering a number of training sessions over the next few months, with the first being on Friday 27th March 2026, 1pm-2pm.
View DATES to book sessions and see further availability.
