The ‘Green’ Week, Careers Fair, Guest Lectures and Game…
25/11/2015
Yeah! we are less than four weeks away from the Christmas break đ There are one more assignment due date and two exams before we can enjoy the holiday… all LSCMers are working super hard at the moment!
Looking over the past three weeks, there were so much going on in Cranfield. I was overwhelmed with all the sustainability and environmental stuffs I found out here. Just to share a couple with you:
I was also very lucky to volunteer with The Wildlife Trust for the scrub clearance and hedge laying conservation event last Saturday. It was a cold and windy afternoon, but all the volunteers worked hard and had fun. I was amazed by the jointed contributions human can make to the nature, and how the improved habitat is going to benefit the wildlife.
We had this year’s Careers Fair in the Sports Hall on the 11th of November. There were more than 55 leading companies in the industries presented on the day. It was great to see this kind of event on campus. Besides the Annual Careers Fair, employers also come to campus on a regular basis for presentation and continuous recruitment events. Weâve had British Airway, Elanco (a subsidiary for Eli Lilly and Company), Amazon, EasyJet so far, and thereâs more to come.
To enrich our learning experiences, the school has arranged many guest lectures delivered by professionals from the industries. Recently we’ve had:
Business Development Manager Barry Drummond and Business Consultant Gary Shaw from DynaSys â a European pioneer for demand & supply chain planning solution, on Sales and Operations Planning;
Richard Myers, Senior Analyst at SDV UK, on Freight Forwarding;
Andrew Draycott, the Vice President Purchased Air Global at DHL, on Air Freight;
Mr. Trevor Warner, the Factory Director of IAC â International Automotive Components, on Manufacturing and Operations Management
And of course, we all love playing games đ Here’s a few photos from last weekâs Bricks Game which leads us nicely into the topic of Inventory Management:
There are loans of opportunities and activities around waiting for us to find out đ And it’s not easy to find that balance between all sorts of activities and studies… But I think that’s part of the reason why we are here for, right? Let’s take up the challenge and try to make the most of our Cranfield experiences.
PS: whilst you are working hard on your assignement and exams, don’t forget to take care of yourself đ a healthy body is the basis for everything!
