We hope you have seen the shiny new self service kiosks that have been installed in the Library. Your ID card is now read by the big red line on the main flatbed, and you can request that receipts are emailed to you rather than printed out.
The next stage in the process is going to be noisy and a bit disruptive. Sorry!
New security gates are going to be installed at the top of the stairs. The balcony area will be cordoned off for safety whilst new cabling is installed, and the work should be completed by the end of the week. We have been told we can expect drilling into the concrete floor from 6am on Monday morning until about midday. You may prefer to work somewhere else during this time.
Additionally, a block of library shelving is going to be moved. This will primarily affect access to manufacturing (621.67-621.822) and wastewater (628.16-628.35) books, which will be stored in nearby crates for the week. If you need to use any of the books that would be shelved in this block, please ask a member of library staff to help you.
And there will be more disruption at the end of the month…
As part of the work, we are expecting to close the main stairwell to the library for a couple of days at the end of the month. We will provide an alternative access route for you when this happens. The library will also have to close for one night and we will let you know when this date is confirmed.
We are sorry for any inconvenience this work may cause you.
