New option to restrict access to files published in CORD
19/10/2020

It’s now possible to restrict access to files you deposit in CORD, our system for publishing our research data. This replaces the previous option to mark restricted files as ‘Confidential’. You should not use this feature lightly, as we need to support the principles of Open Access for the majority of our files, but you might want to use it to:
- limit access to sensitive data to commercial partners or research collaborators via IP range
- archive research data and make it only accessible to administrators
The new embargo area looks like this:
If you already have an item in CORD that has been published under the previous “Confidential” settings, you do not need to do anything. All historical “Confidential” items have already been migrated to the new “Embargo – Permanent” settings.
