Interlibrary loans service for print items resumes

Our interlibrary loans service enables us to borrow items for you from other libraries, if we don’t hold them in our own print or online collection.

We were able to provide an online-only service during lockdown, emailing the full text of journal articles and book chapters to you using the British Library’s On Demand Service.

However, as libraries are now reopening, we are now able to resume print loans too, as part of our return to a full service. You can now request loans for printed books, whole journals and conference proceedings if you need them.

Please be aware the due to continuing Covid-19 restrictions, processing print requests will take longer. Many libraries have limited staff numbers on site, including the British Library, and items are also subject to quarantine periods between users. Please bear this in mind and allow as much time as possible when placing print requests.

To find out more about our interlibrary loans service, go to > Select your library > Library services > Interlibrary loans.
