Preparing Library services for the Forensics move
03/08/2020

As previous posts by Professor Andrew Shortland have already described, it is an exciting time for Cranfield Forensic Institute. A brand new teaching and research facility is being built on the Cranfield site and will open in September.
The CFI is currently based at the Defence Academy and so the Library Service has been making plans to support existing staff and students who are moving to the new facility, as well as those remaining at the Shrivenham site.
Access to books
From 3 September the majority of the forensic book collection will be transferred from the Barrington Library to the Kings Norton library at Cranfield in preparation for the new term. However, we have given careful consideration to retaining a selection of relevant books at Barrington for those staff and researchers who will continue to be based at Shrivenham.
If you are based at the Cranfield site, you will be able to find the print and online books key to your research and teaching using the Kings Norton Library’s website and Library Search. Staff and researchers at Shrivenham will continue to find them on Barrington Library’s website and Library Search.
If you can’t find the book you are looking for in your library, don’t worry! We are improving our eBook collection and you will also be able to submit a request for a book held at the other site to be sent to your own library for collection (at no cost to yourself).
Access to eJournals and databases
If you are based at the Cranfield site, you will find all the resources you need on the Kings Norton Library website. You will have access to our databases which contain journal articles, reports, conference proceedings, standards and eBooks. If you are looking for a particular journal to read, then check out the eJournal finder.
We have created a subject guide to forensic sciences on the Kings Norton Library website. Here you can find links to recommended resources, reading lists and any further support.
For those staff and researchers who will continue to be based at Shrivenham, the course and subject guides will still be available from the Barrington Library website: Forensic Programme course guide and Forensic sciences subject guide.
